The National Lightship Trust

a not-for-profit educational foundation
which has been formed to serve as the national advocacy group  for
America's last lightships. It will work to raise public awareness of, and  appreciation for, the lightship's role in our maritime heritage, and the  importance of preserving these historic vessels.

National Maritime Initiative Evaluation of Maritime Resources

Evaluation of significant maritime properties is carried out by the Initiative using the National Historic Landmarks Survey. The NHL  Survey, conducted through the Service's National Register, History and Education  Program, identifies and designates those buildings, structures, sites, and objects of national significance and of exceptional importance in American history and culture. In 1988, the NHL program formally commenced a National  Historic Landmarks Theme Study, "The Maritime Heritage of the United States."

The vital  characteristic that separates waterfronts from other areas in a community is the  relationship to water. Our mission is to assist communities and professions in  making the wisest and best long-term uses of waterfront resources for maximum  public benefit.

Floating the Apple

Friends of Pier 84 is a  grassroots community organization consisting of people who love Pier 84. We are  determined to save it from decay and destruction due to neglect and commercial interests.

Hell's Kitchen Neighborhood Association

HKNA is a volunteer membership and advocacy organization which seeks to involve those who live and work in Hell's Kitchen South in the future of their community. In five short years it has made a dramatic and visible impact on Hell's Kitchen, leading tree-planting campaigns and, with the support of Port Authority of New York, turning concrete eyesores and vacant lots into the neighborhood's only green spaces.

Hudson River Sailing Club

Join members of the Hudson River Sailing Club for wonderful  sailing in and around New York Harbor on board Sea of Love, our 35 foot sailboat.

Manhattan Kayak  Company

The Brooklyn Bridge Park Website

The Brooklyn Bridge Park Development Corporation was created to plan a great park on the waterfront stretching from Atlantic Avenue to the Manhattan Bridge. The BBPDC's work began in 1998, when it received its initial appropriation from the New York State Legislature and the New York State Department of State. The Brooklyn Bridge Park will be designed consistent with the "Thirteen Guiding Principles" adopted by the community.
